Hematoma Lump Won’t Go Away

When you have a hematoma lump, you should turn your attention toward your overall health and in most cases, it’s required to check with a doctor. Hematomas can appear due to a variety of reasons and health conditions and not all of them are serious.

However, if you have a hematoma lump that won’t go away by itself, here are some home remedies that you can apply as soon as possible, before making an appointment with your doctor.

Apply the R.I.C.E method.

This R.I.C.E method is the best type of home treatment you can give to yourself when you have such a lump. This method is described as Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate and all these terms are very much self-explanatory.

You should rest, add ice on your hematoma, compress it and elevate your leg or arm as soon as you notice the problem forming. This will prevent complications along the way.

Rest is crucial when you try to get rid of hematoma.

Try to rest your limb for anywhere between 24 and 72 hours in order to control potential bleeding. This is very important during a recovery time and also the first thing your doctor will recommend as well.

Try to avoid any type of chores while you have this condition and stay in bed as much as possible. If someone can help you with your basic needs it can be very useful to your recovery process.

Take an anti-inflammatory medication.

There are plenty anti-inflammatory that you can take with or without your doctor’s recommendation. The best way to start such a treatment is by talking to your doctor but if that is not an option for you, at least make sure to ask the pharmacist about your options.

These types of medication products will not only reduce the potential inflammation in your limb but also take some of the pain away. If you take an anti-inflammatory and apply the R.I.C.E method, you have good chances of getting rid of the lump at home without any further medication or medical intervention.

However, it all depends on the type of hematoma that you have as well so don’t push your luck more than you have to.

If none of these methods works, don’t hesitate to contact your doctor and have your hematoma checked in order to see how serious your condition is.

They will prescribe you the right treatment and follow up with the evolution of your hematoma so that your pain is reduced to minimum. Hematomas usually go away by themselves or with minimum treatment and rest.

However, if you are facing a lump that won’t go away, no matter what you do, you need to seek medical attention immediately. This can ultimately be putting your life in danger if you allow too much time to pass. Plus, your doctor will most likely be able to cure your hematoma without any problems!
