Experiencing a gallbladder attack can be excruciating … ask anyone who has had one. It is generally associated with eating fat of some sort. And interestingly, if you have gallstones – fatty foods could be something that you crave.
Gallstones can cause a multitude of symptoms that appear to be completely unrelated and can lead sufferers down many rabbit holes looking for a solution to their suffering.
I stick my hand up and admit this happened to me.
The symptoms of gallstones are:
- pain across the middle of the back
- painful right shoulder – sometimes misdiagnosed as frozen shoulder
- painful right arm
- cramps in the legs
- nausea and vomiting
- headaches
- fatigue
- pain under the right ribs
- sore stomach / abdomen
- fever, chills and sweating
- foggy / woolly feeling in the head
Once you find out that you do have gallstones … you may never have another attack – or you could continue to suffer.
When I was diagnosed with gallstones – I was completely shocked and in denial. I was not inclined to see a surgeon or visit the hospital as my doctor requested. This was my first mistake.
I should have done this as soon as possible after being diagnosed,
so that I had a better understanding about the whole medical situation and how dangerous it can be. I haven’t written this article to frighten you – but to alert you to talk to your doctor or physician about gallstones and any possible complications.
If a doctor says to you “Oh, not to worry your gallstones are small.” You need to ask more questions. My understanding is that the smaller ones can cause more problems than the large ones.
There is an easy natural remedy you can try before committing to surgery. If you have concerns about using this remedy or other natural remedies, discuss it with your doctor or naturopath before going ahead.
Unfortunately, I didn’t know about this remedy and went straight into surgery.
The Remedy
Make a mixture of 1/2 cold pressed extra virgin olive oil + 1/2 fresh lemon juice
- this mixture tastes like a delicious salad dressing
- make small amounts – the most I would mix at any one time would be 1/8 cup of oil + 1/8 cup of lemon juice.
Take 1 dessertspoon 4 times a day – a dessertspoon at breakfast / lunch / dinner and before bed.
Take this mixture for 14-21 days. And from between 14-21 days you should pass the gallstones through your bowels.
(Keep the mixture in the refrigerator – the older it becomes the thicker/creamier it will be – this is still fine to drink.)
Anecdote
One of my elderly clients was bedridden and being treated for a blood disorder without success. She was most upset that she was missing out on her bowls outings. After going to visit her and listening to her symptoms … I was convinced she had gallstones. Not wanting to leave any stone unturned in helping her mother, her daughter searched the internet and found the above remedy. My elderly client took the remedy for 21 days – passed many gallstones and was back playing bowls in no time with all symptoms gone.
I cannot say that this remedy will work for everyone – but anecdotally it works.
Where your health is concerned – you must do all your research and talk to your health practitioner and make a decision that you are happy with.

I would like to share my gallbladder experience with others and hope they can find it helpful.
I was 35 when it happened to me – I had a severe attack with pain through my back, shoulder and under my ribs. I had no idea what it was until I went to the doctor who diagnosed gallstones and put me straight into hospital where I spent a whole week on ‘nil by mouth’ with drips of antibiotics and painkillers. I was quite devastated so when the doctor advised I have an operation I refused thinking there is no way I’m going to have an operation (not having had one before). He said you’ll be back within 3 months.
Anyway, time passed, I went to a homeopath who was excellent and gave me drops that counteracted any minor pain I experienced. I stopped eating butter, cream etc and things seemed ok, not realizing the shoulder and arm pain I continued to have was related.
I thought the pain I had in my right arm and shoulder was due to pull-starting generators and mowers. So 5 years later I decided, at the age of 40, I should probably have a check up, see how things are. My new doctor told me about the pain symptons and we decided I should have a scan to see what was going on in the gallbladder.
The scan showed a large gallstone lodged in the duct that leads out of the gallbladder – so it would seem the stone had been there for the last 5 years. The only solution was surgery – I went through this and found the gallbladder was very enlarged and not in good shape at all.
Since then which was 11 years ago, I have been perfectly well, did not put on weight as people told me I would and I guess the message from me is that if you are really in doubt that perhaps a scan would be a good place to start. I think if I’d had one the first time they would have seen that stone lodged and I would have done something about it then. As a matter of interest – i did not have any small stones at all, just 5 big ones about the size of frozen peas.

Hi Elizabeth … yes, absolutely – feel free to quote from my information in this post … with a link back.
Thanks for your great feedback …
I think the best kind of liver cleanse is to eat lots of fresh natural foods and drink lots of water. Be kind to your body and liver. Stop eating “fast food” and convenience foods. Big food companies are in the business of making profits and they add cheap ingredients like sugar, corn syrups, partially hydrogenated oils to many of the foods that you buy.
Thanks for your comment Mona … I agree with you — fresh natural foods and lots of water is the best form of liver cleanse. If everyone became more conscious of what they put in their mouths and on their skin … we would have more healthy, vital people in the world … great point.
Good work on the blog! It inspires me to keep up work on my site!
Thank you

I have visited your port before. The more I visit, the more I keep coming back!
Interesting. Thanks for that, however that is not the limit of my appreciation. I am afflicted with color blindness (deuteranopia in my case). I mostly use Safari browser (unsure if that changes anything), and far too many websites are hard to comprehend on account of a poor range of colors used. In your case, as the selection of colors is fine, the site is amazingly tidy and easy to read.
Hi Sharita … thanks for your comments … yes, you can share some of my post with your friends, but please make sure that you link back … thanks Julie

You could have such a more powerful blog if you let people SEE what youre talking about instead of just reading it.
